Chinese Poker - Comparing Hands

  • For regular hands, compare each of the three hands individually. The higher-ranked hand wins. If ranks are equal, compare card values, and if necessary suit order. Hands are compared in order: Front vs Front, Middle vs Middle, Back vs Back.
  • When comparing a regular hand to a special hand, there's no need to compare each segment. The player with the special hand wins automatically and earns the corresponding bonus points (Water Points).
  • When both players have special hands, the higher special hand wins the Water Points. If both hands are the same, it's a tie.

Scoring Formula: Player Result = Base Bet × Player’s Total Water Points. Water Points per hand type are shown below:

Standard Hand Scoring - Rules

  • Head, Middle, and Tail hands are compared separately; each section earns or loses water points individually.
  • For each section won against another player, the winner gets water points based on their hand type.
  • If a player wins all three hands (Head, Middle, Tail) against another player, they score a "Shoot".
  • The player who is shot must pay double the water points to the shooter.
  • Example: Player A shoots Player B; if B originally lost 5 water points (with a Three-of-a-Kind in Head), after being shot, loses 10 water points.
  • If a player wins all three hands against all three other players, it’s a "Grand Slam".
  • Water points are doubled for a shoot and then doubled again for a grand slam, resulting in 4x water points.
  • Example: Player A achieves a Grand Slam against B; if B originally lost 5 water points (with a Three-of-a-Kind in Head), B now loses 20 water points.
  • When standard hands are tied, compare hand rank first, then suit; there are no ties. (e.g. both are Straight)

Special Hand Scoring - Rules

  • Special hands are not compared by section; instead, they score based on their corresponding special hand water points.
  • When both players have special hands, the stronger hand wins and earns full water points based on hand type.
  • Special hands are not eligible for "Shoot" or "Grand Slam"; no water point doubling applies.
  • If multiple players have the same special hand, they tie. No comparison of hand rank or suit. (e.g. both have Pure Suit)
